History

In 1959, after finishing the orthodontic residency program at the University Of Alabama School Of Dentistry, Dr. Charles L. Chambliss came to Mobile to establish a practice. His first office was on Monterey Street just off of Government Street. He stayed there until about 1965, when he built an office on Beltline Highway. The name of the practice was Dr. Charles L. Chambliss, D.M.D.

In the same year he started his practice in Mobile, Dr. Chambliss began a satellite practice in Brewton, Alabama.

Dr. J. Russell Goodloe, Jr. finished dental school in 1964. In 1970 he began to practice with Dr. Chambliss. The name of the practice then became Drs. Chambliss and Goodloe, DMD, PC. Also, in 1970, Dr. Goodloe began a satellite practice in Jackson, Alabama.

Dr. Chambliss and Dr. Goodloe practiced together from 1970 until 1991, at which time Dr. Salter joined the practice. Dr. Chambliss retired two years later. The name of the practice then became Drs. Goodloe and Salter, DMD, PC.

In October 1997, the practiced moved from Beltline Highway to its present location at 1605 Hillcrest Road and the practice was renamed Hillcrest Orthodontics, PC. Dr. Goodloe retired in 2008 and Dr. Salter continues the practice today as a solo orthodontist. She continues a satellite practice in Brewton.

Over the years, the team at Hillcrest Orthodontics has provided and continues to provide excellent orthodontic treatment for thousands of patients. Many of these patients have become good friends and some are now bringing their children to be treated by Dr. Salter. Drs. Chambliss, Goodloe, and Salter are very proud of the impact they have made on the lives of so many people, children and adults, in the Mobile and Brewton areas.
